Guy Fawkes

Remember remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot...

So, as you all know it was the 5th of November yesterday and truth be told, Malaysia doesn't celebrate or even know this day actually has a special meaning to it because only British people celebrates it. And since New Zealand is still "kind of" part of England, we celebrate what we like to call Guy Fawkes Day.

Guy Fawkes is basically a history

Ironically, I am actually studying this as part of my history this year so I do know quite well how the story goes.

It happened during 5th of November,1605.

England was being ruled by King James I during this period of time and was actually a Scottish. So a group of Englishmen decided to blow up Parliament and the King who was going to attend a meeting during 5th of November. There were 13 men, one of them included Guy Fawkes.

The plot somehow got to the King's knowledge and therefore ordered soldiers to check if it was true. Soldiers found Guy Fawkes who was happened to be there checking if all the gunpowders are there and ready to go. So the poor guy was being tortured for not admitting he was trying to plot against the King and in the end along with his fellow plotters sentenced to death.

A very horrible death.

For more details google it.

But anyway. Since then, people have been celebrating the 5th of November in remembrance of the gunpowder plot and that no one should ever repeat the same silly mistakes. Anniversary soon turned into traditions and eventually people still carry on this tradition till today.

By celebrating Guy Fawkes Day, people have fireworks display and bonfires.

Last night, Jun, Amy and I went to Ohaupo to see some fireworks and it was amazing. 15 minutes long.

Before the firework start

Ignore my double chin. Pleaseandthankyou.

I actually took a lot of pictures of the fireworks but couldn't be bothered to upload all of it.

Sorry peeps.

Hope you enjoyed it anyway.
