I've decided to blog before I start studying, and no. That's not procrastinating.
It has been a REALLY busy week. I have 3 assignments due next week and it's driving me crazy! I honestly wanted to update my blog earlier but given the situation I am in right now, I could only do it right now. Therefore, I'm sorry for that.
I have a lot of things I need to get it off my chest and rant about! So this might end up as a long post but hey, if you're interested about what I'm gonna rant about then just stay tuned.
So I assume a lot of people have seen and also acknowledge that a lot of our successful billionaires in this world actually dropped out of school and became successful, people such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerburg and etc. To be honest, I see them as an inspiration until I saw the picture above.
Ok, the thing I'm pissed about is a picture of Bill Gates who actually does look like smirking and mocking at his "friend" who is now working for him! That quote itself is somehow like bashing on people who actually work hard to pass in school and I don't know if Bill Gates tried but saying something like that doesn't make you any better.
I know this is getting a little confusing here but I'm actually not mad at Bill Gates but I'm mad at what he said. Get it? OK! I know it's confusing, even for me it is. So to summarize what I really wanna say, here's some tweets from my Twitter.
All these annoying shits about "Bill Gates" saying not passing in school can still make you a billionaire. Honestly, how is that motivating?
Like, I know it's trying to make some people feel better, but you're only making people who actually work hard for their work feel bad
So we're suppose to be failing and be a boss? You think everyone is like Bill Gates? Ok, even Bill Gates worked hard on Microsoft ok?!
So stop being so stupid and start working, cause if you don't even try I don't see how it could actually get you anywhere in life!
Ok, what I'm trying to say is. That quote is actually making some people down, exhibit A, me. Look, I know a lot of people who actually work hard in their lives in order to succeed and I do know that the quote is actually inspiring people that you don't always have to pass in school to be successful, yes, I understand. But the thing is, this quote is SO overused that it seems like it's giving people an EXCUSE to slack! YES! That's what I'm trying to say.
Honestly, do you believe that Bill Gates didn't try to succeed after he dropped out of school? If he didn't, do you mean that all of a sudden he just turned into the creator of Microsoft overnight? Is that what you're trying to say? NO! I believe Bill Gates tried too ok?! It's not motivating you that even if you fail school you'll still be successful than others, but it's telling you that even though you did dropped out of school, you still have to work hard for your dreams! Cause nothing in this world is free alright? EVERYTHING COMES WITH A PRICE. Even love.
Except the Love of God of course, but other than that, it all comes with a price.
So before you try to overuse that quote again, think of the people who are actually working hard, which in most of the time, includes yourself. Would you like people bashing you that way?
Love,
Nathalie
