Dear Nathalie,
How are you? I'm doing quite fine right now, just so you know. The reason why I'm writing you this letter, is because I wish I could have tell you things that you yearn to know, and things that you are going to face in this 10 years time. I hope you are prepared for whatever that is coming your way. So let's start.
Firstly, do not rush in trying to grow up.
I wish someone told me this, because right now, I'd give anything to go back to when I was 10 years old. Just enjoy being a little girl to the fullest, and even though you've hit 10, that doesn't necessarily mean you have to act like a teenager. You have all the time in the world to do that. Let your imagination run wild! Most importantly, treasure the times you have with your friends right now. I don't mean to disappoint you, but in a few years time, you'll be having a hard time making friends and keeping them.
I'm sorry, but I don't really know why every single year, I've lost friends.
I wish I could tell you the reason so that you could prevent it from happening, but honestly, even after 10 years time, I still can't figure out what happened.
You must be loving Harry Potter crazily right now, and guess what, you would still be loving him even after 10 years, and maybe even more. You'll be going to the premiere of the very last Harry Potter film, isn't that amazing? It was heck of a fun. And I'm sure you'll be looking forward to that.
I also remember that during this time, dancing and music are the love of your life. Whatever you do, DO NOT GIVE UP ON DANCING. I am proud of you, because you finished your Grade 8! Although it was a very hard journey, but you did it. And never in your life, you'd imagine yourself completing Grade 8 not in Malaysia, but in New Zealand.
That's right. In 2 years time, when you turn 12, you'll be travelling to this country called New Zealand, and you won't even know where this country is or even existed. But guess what, in 10 years time, you would have spent about 4 years time studying in this beautiful and amazing country.
Crazy isn't it.
How much change has happened in 10 years time.
Oh, I know you are probably quite disappointed that you are no longer in the "best" or "honoured" class right now in primary school, but I wanna tell you that there is more to life than being in the best class. Once you get outta primary school, you'll be facing even harsher and harder environments, a.k.a. High School.
In 2 years time, when you turn 12, you will also be making this promise to God, saying that if you get at least 4As in your UPSR, you will devote your life to worshipping God. Well, you did it. And I'm here to remind you to keep that promise, cause once in a while, you did drift off.
There is so much happening in this 10 years and it is quite impossible to fit everything in.
But I do hope you will enjoy this journey. Because it is a life changing one.
Who knows, maybe in another 10 years time, it'll be another heck of a journey.
Yours truly,
Nathalie.
